Stephen & Sandra Brauning

Vision
We envision a family of Spirit-led ministries in the Dominican Republic (DR) used by God to transform lives, communities, and society.
Mission
Our mission is to serve our ministry partners in the DR by equipping them to proclaim the Good News of Christ’s multi-faceted Kingdom.
Ministry in Dominican Republic
Steve works alongside the Christian Reformed Church in the Dominican Republic (CRCDR), which is a national denomination made up of nearly 200 congregations, and the Christian Reformed Schools in the Dominican Republic (COCREF), which is a coalition of 16 schools. Steve connects with the CRCDR on evangelism, discipleship, church planting, leadership training, denominational structure, church construction, and other ministries. With COCREF, Steve participates with the board of directors and the administration to assist with providing a quality, affordable Christian education in marginal communities. CRWM also works closely with CRWRC in the DR to support community development, reconciliation, and justice issues. Between the church, schools, and other related ministries, CRWM’s work impacts an estimated 25,000 people.
Recent ministry highlights:
1. The Christian Reformed Church in the DR celebrated its thirtieth annual assembly this past August (2011). Steve provided assistance in planning and organization, as well as enjoying the fellowship and encouragement of worship and celebration with about 130 pastors and other leaders. A highlight was marching around the venue with everyone while singing “When the Saints Go Marching In”.
2. The Timothy Leadership Training Institute(TLTI) started up in the fall of 2011 with the CRCDR as its launch platform. In about two month, almost 100 pastors and other leaders have attended modules. A key element to this training method is the “Action Plan” that each participant creates at the end of each module. This way, the learning that occurs is applied and translates into results. The plan is to expand by offering the training to other denominations and independent churches that do not have their own Bible institute or training programs. Steve is on the TLTI-DR team.
3. The Christian Reformed Schools, in response to a severe financial crisis, went through a difficult restructuring that included closing five schools. However, the level of commitment and dedication by administrators, teachers, and school principals has been amazing. The enrollment in the 16 remaining schools is almost back to where it was when there were 21. Also, the dedication of the board of directors, all volunteers, has been key to this ministry being able to weather this storm.
