Scott & Marcia Geurink

Vision
The Geurinks are working with the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Mexico towards the short-term goal of developing a presbytery in Tijuana, Mexico. Five organized churches are needed to start a presbytery. Currently, there are three organized churches, three congregations, and four missions in the Tijuana area. Two of the congregations are within a year or two of becoming organized churches..
By 2020, we could see another 14 Reformed Presbyterian churches and missions planted in the greater Tijuana area with the majority of the pastors and leaders trained locally.
Mission
During the next five years, the Geurinks plan to disciple and mentor key men and women, teach others to be disciple-makers, minister to families, help plant two more churches, and be involved in leadership development at the Reformed Bible Institute of the North West so that new churches can be planted throughout Tijuana and the surrounding area.
Ministry in Mexico
The Geurinks help the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Mexico plant and develop churches in Tijuana by concentrating on five tasks:
Church planting: The Geurinks work with local pastors and churches in evangelism outreach, home Bible studies, children’s ministries, and starting new missions.
Discipleship training: The Geurinks lead and train leaders through discipleship courses to encourage individual spiritual growth and develop lay leaders.
Education: Scott teaches two courses a year at the Bible Institute in Tijuana, and mentor students.
Networking: The Geurinks connect service and learning teams from North America with evangelism, ministry, and building projects in Tijuana.
Administration: Scott leads CRWM’s team of missionaries in Mexico.
The Geurinks currently work at the Agua Viva mission in eastern Tijuana . They work in partnership with the mother church “Cristo, Arca de Salvacion” and one of its elders, Israel Ponce. Scott preaches and leads half of the mid-week teaching services.. Marcia has been leading a ladies' Bible study for two years and recently added a sewing class. Marcia, Melissa, and Karissa have been involved with teaching children’s classes and organizing a Vacation Bible School program each summer. Scott and Marcia are praying for a Mexican pastor to come help them out at Agua Viva this year.
Scott is also involved in a new drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, Forging New Destinies. He’s helping them network with other rehab centers, offering assistance in building a better facility, and encouraging program development and sustainability.
Scott and Marcia, together with James and Barbarita Lee and local pastors, are also involved in family ministry. Together, they have hosted a “Weekend to Remember” conference and a training session for leaders. The Geurinks have also offered counseling services and led Bible studies for couples, parenting classes, and children and teenager events.
