Mission & Vision
Can you see the children dancing while
worshipping God? Can you hear young
adults sharing gripping biblical stories
and truths as hundreds of kids cram
into classrooms? “Imagine smiles
lighting up with joy, hearts becoming
peaceful, Scriptures being memorized,
hands reaching out to forgive and love
others every day.” I see God delighting in
His children as many tribes, tongues, and
nations come to seek Him.
Partnering
with “Team Beyond” of International
Teams in Soroti, Uganda, and with Christian Reformed World Missions, I desire
to see economically, physically, and
spiritually oppressed lives changing in
the name of Jesus. I will be working in children's ministry to build up ministry programs, and I will be working with and encouraging former child-soldiers.
Ministry in Uganda
I will be serving the children and youth
in and around Soroti, Uganda. I hope to do this
by drawing together young adults from
many of the local churches and training
them on how to start and run a lively
children’s ministry. I’ll be guiding young
adults in story telling methods, explaining
Bible stories, planning lessons and craft
ideas, and then sending them back to
teach the children in their churches.
Occasionally I will walk alongside of the
teachers as they lead a class.
I will also continue to encourage former
child soldiers living in the surrounding
villages by bringing words of peace and
forgiveness and assisting with income
generating projects like goats or cassava
crops. It is my prayer that discipleship
groups of 10–16 teenage ladies will be
formed and meet on a weekly basis.
And I pray that each lady will own her
own Bible as we study together.
I’m positive that being part of a team
will also present many tasks which will fill
my days – tutoring missionary children,
hugging orphans, befriending the Indian
shop keepers, leading worship, reading
to the blind, and loving the lonely.
About Karen
While attending Bible College from
1995-1999, I fell in love with missions
and East Africa. The Lord led me to the
Netherlands for a year where I humbly
served as a nanny. Afterwards I tutored
missionary kids and discipled young
people in the Philippines for three years.
For the past five years I have been
supporting teens with special needs. I
spent a year in Kenya and Uganda in
2009 and had my calling confirmed.
Africa felt like home. And the people
stole my heart.
Thank You
I praise God for His work around the world and the privilege of serving Him. Additionally, you are a valuable person on my team. With your support, together we can make a difference in Uganda. Your money, prayers, and encouragement all help to transform the lives of the oppressed. Together, by the grace of God, our efforts are transforming lives and communities in Uganda. Thank you for partnering with me!
