Vision
More than anything else, we want God to be honored through our family, our relationships, and through the ministries of West African churches in partnership with others from around the world. We want our lives and work to be a testimony to God’s love and power in Jesus Christ, inviting others to take hold of what God has for them too.
Mission
Albert’s mission is to encourage West African churches in Christian ministry that brings positive and lasting change to individuals and communities. An increasing part of this is giving leadership to the growing interest in developing healthy partnerships between West African churches and the Christian Reformed Church of North America.
Carolyn’s mission is to make a home where all family members are cared for and encouraged to develop in God-glorifying ways, and where hospitality is generous. As the medical nurse to CRC missionaries in Nigeria, she is also involved with the health and well-being of the missionary community.
Ministry in Nigeria
CRWM works in partnership with several large denominations in Nigeria – including the Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria (CRCN), the Reformed Church of Christ in Nigeria (RCCN), and the Church of Christ among the Tiv (NKST). These churches, with a combined membership of over 250,000 people, have dynamic potential for ministry in Nigeria, West Africa, and the world.
There’s an African proverb that says, “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.” We believe that it’s in partnership with West African churches that CRWM can go far in carrying out our mission to proclaim the Good News. We work especially close together in evangelism, education, and training church leaders.
With North American Christians increasingly wish to be more closely connected with international ministries, we also link West African churches in healthy, interdependent ways with North American churches and Christians. This includes planning for and hosting volunteers, service and learning trips, and joint ministry projects.
About Albert & Carolyn
We began our ministry in Nigeria in 1994 among the Avadi people of northwest Nigeria. Six years later, we relocated to Jos in Plateau State where Albert served as the Nigeria Mission Leader. In 2007, we transitioned to coordinating CRWM’s partnerships with West African churches, especially in Nigeria.
Our children, Jessica, Kristin and Andrea, all attend Hillcrest School – an international Christian school of about 270 students from K-12, representing over 20 nationalities.
