Vision
Following God’s mission for my life started with prayer. Before coming to Honduras, I prayed that God would put a burden in my heart for injustice in the world and best use me to further His Kingdom and bring glory to His name. Through my pastor, family, and friends, the Holy Spirit has opened my eyes to the needs of people in other countries and called me to sacrificially love my neighbor as myself. I responded to God’s calling by becoming a missionary teacher. I had no idea what real poverty looked like before moving to Honduras. I hope to plant seeds of Biblical truth and help train the youth to become servant-leaders of Christ. I cannot ignore the burden God has put on my heart for this country, these children, and the passion to love them as Christ loves me. I have assurance that in His mighty power, He is able to do far more than I can possibly imagine.
Mission
Sarah teaches second grade at Academia Los Pinares in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Academia Los Pinares is a Christian school that serves 700 students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. The school’s goal is simple – to bring children to Christ. The students are given tools to become life-long learners and godly leaders. In her spare time, Sarah takes joy in building relationships with street-kids through the Micah Project ministry. On Saturdays, Sarah joins the ministry called Manos Extendidas to organize and lead a Sunday School program for around 200 of the city’s poorest children. At this program, children also receive what might be their only meal for that day.
Ministry in Honduras
Honduras, a mountainous country located in the middle of Central America, is known for the beautiful Bay Islands and exports like bananas and coffee. Unfortunately, it is also known for natural disasters, violence, and corruption. It is Central America’s second largest country and one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere.
CRWM works in conjunction with the Christian Reformed Church of Honduras (CRCH) to create and promote healthy congregations and to train leaders for effective service. Each year CRWM also sends partner missionaries who work as teachers at English-language schools in Tegucigalpa.
Thank You
I praise God for His work around the world and the privilege of serving Him. Thank you for your prayers, generosity and support for my ministry with Christian Reformed World Missions. Together, by the grace of God, our efforts are transforming lives and communities worldwide. Thank you.
