MISSION During the next five years, the Geurinks plan to disciple and mentor key men and women, teach others to be disciplemakers, minister to families, help plant two more churches, and be involved in leadership development through the Reformed Bible Institute of the North West so that new churches can be planted throughout Tijuana and the surrounding area.
VISION We are working with the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Mexico towards the short-term goal of developing a presbytery in Tijuana. Five organized churches are needed. At this time there are three organized churches, three congregations, and four missions. Two of the congregations are within a year or two of officially organizing.
By the year 2020, we could see another 14 Reformed Presbyterian Churches and missions planted in the greater Tijuana area with the majority of the pastors and leaders trained locally.
MISSION WORK The Geurinks help the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Mexico plant and develop churches in Tijuana by concentrating on five major tasks:
|
|
|
|
1. Church planting: We work with local pastors and churches in evangelism outreach, home Bible studies, children’s ministries, and starting new missions.
2. Discipleship training: Leading and training leaders in discipleship courses to encourage individual spiritual growth and develop lay leaders.
3. Education: Teaching two courses a year at the new Bible Institute in Tijuana, and mentoring students.
4. Networking: connecting service and learning teams from North America with evangelism, ministry, and building projects in Tijuana.
5. Administration: Leading CRWM’s team of missionaries in Mexico.

We are currently working at the mission “Agua Viva” on the far eastern edge of Tijuana. We work in partnership with the mother church “Cristo, Arca de Salvacion” and with one of their elders, Israel Ponce. Scott is doing most of the preaching at this time as well as half of the mid-week teaching. Marcia has been leading a ladies' Bible study for two years and has recently added a sewing class. Marcia, Melissa and Karissa have been involved with teaching children’s classes and organizing a VBS program each summer. We are praying that there will be a Mexican pastor available to help us at “Agua Viva” this next year.
Scott is also involved in a new drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, “Forging New Destinies” by providing help with the construction of a better facility, helping them network with other rehab centers, and encouraging program development and sustainability.
Scott and Marcia, together with James and Barbarita Lee and local pastors, are encouraging family ministry. Together they hosted a “Weekend to Remember” conference and a training session for leaders. We have also led couples Bible studies, parenting classes, special children and teen events, and provided counseling.
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:2
