In general we’ll address a particular issue because it is a matter of concern to Reformed Christians, falls in line with the biblical call to do justice, has moral and ethical significance, and is a current political issue where advocacy could make a difference. An issue becomes one of our focus issues in a couple of ways:
- Synod, the annual governing assembly of the Christian Reformed Church, assigns an issue to our committee and to the Centre
- The Committee for Contact with the Government (CCG) provides support and insight to the Centre for Public Dialogue in the process of selecting a small number of critical issues to address. The CCG, a committee drawn from Christian Reformed churches across Canada, is mandated to address “significant and pressing issues” from a Christian perspective.
