Diaconal Ministries Canada employs Diaconal Ministry Developers (DMDs) for each Classis across Canada. These individuals are encouragers and coaches for deacons and diaconates. DMDs are available to help deacons understand their role and figure out what exactly they should be actively doing with their congregations and communities. DMDs are available to connect with and visit every diaconate in CRCs across the country. You can access your Classis DMD by visiting the DMD portion of our Website.
DMDs are supervised by Regional Ministry Developers (RMDs). Diaconal Ministries has two Regional Ministry Developers (RMDs); one for western Canada and one for Eastern.

I feel that I have found a helpful structural overview of the resources provided by Diaconal Ministries Canada. The provision of resources such as the Diaconal Ministry Developers at the level of Classis helps in providing direct and readily accessible support to actual practice. It can be challenging for many ministers and new deacons to understand and actualize their role and effectively minister to the needs of the community. As such, it is important to have accessible coaches who can help them establish their vision and practice. The appointment of the Regional Ministry Developers helps to ensure that all of the Canadian Christian Reformed Churches have the individualized yet competent assistance that they need to effectively actualize diaconal ministry in their local contexts.
