Baptized members include all church members who were baptized as children but who have not yet made a public profession of faith. Professing members include all members who have made a public profession of faith. Adult baptism includes elements of profession of faith, so people baptized as adults become professing members.

Baptized members include all church members who were baptized as children, from what I understand, the distinction is primarily about personal affirmation of faith. In my view, this reflects a theological progression rather than a hierarchy. I see it as a spiritual slope of growth and maturity—baptism begins the journey within the church community, and profession of faith confirms a conscious, accountable participation in that faith.
